A devastating road accident occurred near Tunnel No. 3 of the Swat Motorway, resulting in the death of 15 people and injuries to 8 others after a truck overturned on Thursday. The deceased include men, women, and children, all members of a nomadic family traveling together.
Upon receiving the alert, Rescue 1122 teams rushed to the scene and launched an immediate response operation. The medical response team provided on-site aid and coordinated with the motorway police to manage rescue efforts efficiently. The collaboration between rescue personnel and motorway authorities ensured swift action, which likely prevented further loss of life.
The bodies and injured were shifted to District Headquarters Hospital (DHQ) Batkhela, while four critically injured individuals were referred to Swat for specialized medical care due to the severity of their condition.
Initial investigations revealed that the victims were residents of Gabral, a village in Bahrain Tehsil, Swat, and belonged to a nomadic family. The truck they were traveling in lost balance and overturned near the tunnel, causing a high-casualty incident that officials described as extremely serious in nature.
Rescue 1122’s prompt action played a critical role in minimizing further casualties. A spokesperson for the rescue service later issued a detailed statement outlining the emergency response steps taken and confirmed that all possible assistance had been extended to the victims and their families.
