LAHORE: (Web Desk) September 6 is commemorated as Defence Day every year in memory of the 1965 war when the brave forces of Pakistan halted an aggressive military advance of India.

The purpose of observing September 6 as Defence Day is to highlight the national unity and resilience with which the nation repulsed the surprise attack of the enemy.

Pakistanis are wondering whether there will be a public holiday or not on September 6 tomorrow. A notification from the Federal Cabinet Division says there will be no public holiday tomorrow.

On the other hand, a public holiday is confirmed for Eid Milad-un-Nabi (SAW) which will be celebrated on September 17 (Tuesday).

The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee announced on Wednesday that Eid Milad-un-Nabi (SAW) would fall on September 17.

Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Chairman Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad told the media, “We didn’t receive reports of moon sighting and the committee, with consensus, concluded that the month of Rabi ul Awal will commence on September 6 (Friday).”

On the 12th day of the Islamic month Rabi ul Awal, Muslims around the world celebrate the birth of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him), known as Eid Milad-un-Nabi (SAW).
