FBR chairman Amjad Zubair Tiwana seeks early retirement

ISLAMABAD: (Suno News) Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Chairman Amjad Zubair Tiwana has requested an early retirement, giving a two-week notice to resign from the post.
The grade-21 Inland Revenue Service (IRS) officer was to retire on February 25, 2025. He had also verbally informed State Minister Ahad Cheema about his early retirement.
According to informed sources, Amjad Zubair Tiwana himself sent his resignation to the Prime Minister’s secretariat.
Before resigning, he also consulted more than two cabinet members, and they also suggested that he resign.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif could not remove Amjad Zubair Tiwana from office due to his strong support in the PML-N.
Senior FBR officers also did not cooperate with Amjad Zubair Tiwana. There are currently more than 21 officers in FBR who are senior than Tiwana.
Tiwana was appointed as the FBR chairman by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar.
