ISLAMABAD: (Suno News) An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Islamabad on Monday issued non-bailable warrants for the arrest of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, Suno News reported.

The court issued the arrest warrants while dismissing the applications filed on behalf of Chief Minister Gandapur and Amir Mughal for their exemption from appearance.

Judge Tahir Abbas Supra presided over the hearing of cases registered at the Sangjani and I-9 police stations against the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and others including the KP chief minister.

Expressing dissatisfaction at the KP chief minister’s repeated absence since April 2024, the court remarked that warrants would be issued for all absent accused.

Judge Supra remarked that the situation has become a spectacle as one defendant appears while two do not. “We are issuing arrest warrants for all absent defendants,” he said.

The judge warned that if the accused remain failed to appear before the court on July 8, the next date of hearing, they would be declared fugitives.

The judge said that these cases must be concluded. He remarked that if the cases have merit, they will proceed; otherwise, they will be dismissed. He said that these case would be heard on daily basis from July 8.

The court sought a written response from the superintendent of Adiala Jail regarding the PTI founder’s appearance via video link, and adjourned the hearings of both the cases until July 8.
