
The delegation included Congressmen Tom Suozzi and Jonathan Jackson. Acting U.S. Ambassador Natalie Baker, and Consul General Kristin Hawkins were also present in the meeting.
The two sides agreed on taking effective steps to strengthen and advance Pakistan-U.S. relations. They also expressed a strong commitment to promoting broad-based and bilateral cooperation aimed at investment and economic development in Punjab.
A detailed discussion was held on enhancing ties in trade, investment, and democratic institutions between the two countries.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz invited the U.S. delegation to invest in Punjab in sectors such as agriculture, information technology, energy, health, and education.
She also suggested increasing parliamentary-level exchanges between the two nations.
On the occasion, Maryam Nawaz stated that Punjab is eager to expand foreign institutional investment, and that a new chapter of Pakistan-U.S. cooperation in the field of information technology has already begun.
She further stated Punjab is ready to take Pakistan-US relations in a new direction. The Punjab government is undertaking special initiatives to boost foreign investment, providing investors with all necessary facilities through a “one-window” platform under the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC).
