ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) Amid escalating tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbours, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio urged de-escalation during a conversation with COAS General Syed Asim Munir.

In a statement, US State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce, has stated that Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke with Pakistani Army Chief Asim Munir in a phone call.

He said that Secretary of State urged both nations to find ways to deescalate the situation. Rubio offered US assistance in initiating constructive talks in order to avoid future conflicts, US State Department spokesperson added.

 

“Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke with Pakistani Army Chief Asim Munir earlier today. He continued to urge both parties to find ways to deescalate and offered U.S. assistance in starting constructive talks in order to avoid future conflicts.”

In retaliation to unprovoked Indian strikes, the Pakistan armed forces launched a military operation, named Bunyan un Marsoos, targeting multiple military installations in India.

According to security sources, under this operation, Indian military installations have been successfully targeted.

The key targets include the BrahMos missile storage site in the Beas area, the Udhampur Air Base, and the Pathankot Airfield.
