According to details, this protest is being held against recent government policies and the new six percent tax imposed on transporters, which is being described as unfair and unacceptable by the council.
Council President Tanveer Ahmed Jatt said in a press conference that transporters across the country will suspend all activities until the government accepts their legitimate demands. He clarified that this protest is not a joint stand of any one group but of the entire transport sector.

Tanveer Jatt added that the transport sector is already severely affected by the increase in fuel prices, toll taxes, and increasing operational costs day by day. Now by imposing a new tax of six percent, the government has made business face further difficulties.
Tanveer Jatt, speaking bluntly, said that if their demands are not met, the scope of the protest will be further expanded. We are not ready to tolerate the incompetence and negligence of the government any longer. Now is the time for our problems to be heard and immediate steps to be taken.
The Pakistan Transport Council has appealed to all transporters, bus unions, and freight companies to participate fully in this nationwide strike to increase pressure on the government and get their demands approved soon.
