KARACHI: (Suno News) Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) senior leader Senator Taj Haider has passed away.

According to family sources, Taj Haider was undergoing treatment at a local hospital.

Taj Haider was one of the founding members of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and since 2010, he had been serving as the Secretary General of the party.

Taj Haider played a key role in establishing the PPP in 1967 and supported the party’s left-wing ideologies.

In the 1970s, he played a pivotal role in shaping Pakistan’s secret nuclear program and contributed to the formation of public policy regarding it.

The late Taj Haider had also served as the head of the PPP’s central election monitoring cell and had written several letters to the Election Commission, pointing out issues in the electoral process.

In 2013, Taj Haider was awarded the Sitara-e-Imtiaz by the President of Pakistan.

President Asif Ali Zardari and PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari expressed grief over the demise of the stalwart leader.
