
A suspected fake notification suggesting closures until September 5 has been debunked by authorities, who are urging the public to rely only on verified information.
Punjab Education Secretary Khalid Nazir Wattoo confirmed that the viral notice announcing prolonged school closures is completely fabricated. He emphasized that no such directive has been issued by the department and encouraged the public to obtain authentic updates from the School Education Department s official Facebook page.
The final decision on whether to extend school holidays due to the significant flood risk will be made tomorrow (Friday), during a high-level meeting attended by Education Minister Rana Sikandar and the Disaster Risk Reduction Working Group.

It was clarified by Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari that no extension in school closures was being considered during a prior incident of misinformation in May 2025. Citizens were also urged to ignore the false social media claims.
With floodwaters swelling across the province, learners and parents await the outcome of the upcoming meeting to learn whether academic schedules will remain on track or require adjustment.
