A major education reform in Punjab will see 200 afternoon schools elevated from primary to higher levels.
This project will improve education by allowing these schools to offer more classes and better opportunities for students.
More than Rs. 470 million will be spent on this initiative. So far, 64 schools are part of a pilot project, and 136 new schools will be upgraded during this phase.
The Finance Department has already released Rs. 100 million as the first payment.
The project will run from April 1, 2025, to June 30, 2027. District Education Authorities must report on how the funds are used to make sure the project stays on track.
The government has also set new rules for hiring teachers and paying their salaries to make sure the plan works smoothly.

This upgrade project shows Punjab’s commitment to improving education quality by extending learning opportunities in afternoon schools.
Upgrading schools will help reduce overcrowding in other institutions and provide better education access in the province.
The focus on teacher recruitment and salary guidelines ensures that the quality of teaching staff supports this growth.
If successfully implemented, this project could lead to significant improvements in student outcomes over the next two years
