The Punjab government has announced a plan to distribute ration cards to families affected by recent floods, aiming to provide timely relief and support.
Officials from the Punjab Labor Department revealed that a recent meeting focused on speeding up ration card distribution to ensure flood-hit families receive essential food and supplies without delay.
In addition to this, the government is working on recovering workers’ welfare funds and launching a pilot subsidy project in Lahore.
This project will offer a monthly financial aid of Rs. 3,000 to 10,000 low-income families, helping them manage their basic needs better.
The labor minister also emphasized the urgent need to fill vacant positions in the Labor Department to improve efficiency and service delivery.
Furthermore, safety measures are being strengthened by preparing to install CCTV cameras in workers’ welfare school buses.
This step aims to increase security and ensure the safety of children commuting to school.

The Punjab government’s efforts to distribute ration cards quickly demonstrate a proactive approach to disaster management and social welfare.
Prioritizing flood-affected families will ease their struggles during difficult times. The pilot subsidy project is a positive step towards long-term financial support for low-income households.
However, filling vacant posts and implementing safety measures like CCTV cameras show that the government is also focusing on strengthening institutional capacity and public trust.
If these plans are executed effectively, they can significantly improve living conditions and welfare in Punjab.
