Punjab govt announces electricity and tax relief for flood victims

(Web Desk): Punjab government has announced special electricity bill and tax relief for flood-hit families across the province.

Punjab Finance Minister Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman has made this announcement stating that the provincial government would be with the flood affected families in this difficult time.

The announcement was made by the minister at a flood relief camp in Chohang while he visited one and participated with residents to celebrate Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH). He handed out sweets to children on the occasion and heard directly from affected families.

Rehman explained that the relief package, which features relief in electricity bills and tax relief, has been crafted to bring down financial loads with a guarantee of uninterrupted access to basic services. "The Punjab government will not leave its people alone. We are determined to offer all-round relief and channel all available means towards bringing back stability in the lives of flood victims," he added.

The minister added that the messages of Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH), which continue to inspire patience, harmony and service to humankind, were the basis of the government s welfare efforts. He promised that the government was giving priority to actions for providing support to flood-stricken families not just for immediate relief, but also for long-term rehabilitation.

Camp residents received the visit of the finance minister warmly and welcomed the concessions announced by the Punjab government. They were thankful for the relief measures and stated that the concessions would enable them to look after their everyday expenses at a time when they were still trying to recover from flood havoc.
