Marking a significant milestone towards introducing Pakistan s first large-scale electric taxi service, the scheme is expected to encourage green transportation in the province.

Punjab E-Taxi scheme 2025 will offer electric and hybrid taxis to educated and jobless people at an affordable installment plan. For the initial phase, 1,100 electric taxis will be launched in Lahore with the support of 18 charging stations already operational in the city.

Payment structure of Punjab E-Taxi Program:

Applicants will deposit down payment of Rs. 200,000 to Rs. 250,000, at the time of application, according to the model of the vehicle. The remaining amount will be submitted through fixed monthly installments of Rs. 20,000 to Rs. 25,000, in a duration of five to six years.

To make the e-taxi plan more affordable, 30% to 50% of the total cost of the vehicle will be subsidized by the Punjab government. Furthermore, the interest on bank loans will also be subsidized by the government. For the vehicles in the range of Rs. 4 million to Rs. 10 million, Rs. 585,000 will be contributed by the government towards the down payment.

Special Incentives for Women and Disabled Citizens

The program also provides special concessions to women and disabled applicants. An additional subsidy of Rs. 50,000 to Rs. 100,000 will be given to female drivers, while disabled citizens will get lower down payments. Free training and driving assistance programs will also be made available to enable applicants to enter the workforce.
