(Web Desk): Pakistan has launched its first-ever National AI Policy (NAI), aiming to create millions of tech jobs and drive economic growth.

This new policy is all about preparing the country for the future by building a skilled AI workforce, strengthening digital infrastructure, and encouraging innovation across sectors.

The government has set ambitious goals. By 2030, it hopes to create around three million jobs in the AI field. Officials also believe this push will give a major boost to the national economy.

To make this happen, the policy includes a clear and detailed roadmap: training one million people in AI skills, launching homegrown AI products, and setting up innovation centers across the country. It also outlines how AI can be used safely and responsibly in public services, businesses, and education.

Federal IT Minister Shaza Fatima shared that this initiative isn’t just about improving Pakistan’s tech landscape it s also about making sure the country can stand out on the global stage. She stressed that while innovation is key, so is using AI ethically and forming international partnerships to stay ahead.

In a show of that global approach, Pakistan is already strengthening ties abroad. In a recent meeting, the Minister for Science and Technology discussed new possibilities with the Romanian ambassador. The goal: open doors for more collaboration, knowledge exchange, and support for Pakistan’s fast-growing tech ecosystem.

Romania has invited Pakistan to take part in European tech funding programs, which could give Pakistani researchers and startups access to training, financial support, and innovation networks.

The Romanian side showed strong interest in working with Pakistan in areas like artificial intelligence, green technologies, agriculture, cybersecurity, and digital governance.

This policy is a clear signal that Pakistan is ready to step into the global AI race. It focuses on job creation, economic growth, and modernizing the country’s digital capabilities.
