The initiative aims to cut fuel dependency, combat climate change, and provide budget-friendly commuting options for the masses — particularly students, low-income workers, and delivery riders.
PM Shehbaz Electric Bike Scheme with 65,000 subsidy plan
The government has earmarked Rs 9 billion for the scheme in the current fiscal year. Each electric bike will carry a direct subsidy of Rs 65,000, making it significantly more affordable. The remaining cost will be covered through interest-free bank loans, repayable in easy monthly installments, removing financial barriers for those who cannot afford upfront costs.
Easy Online Registration & Fair Allotment
Applications will be accepted via a dedicated online portal, designed for transparency and ease of use. If demand exceeds supply, a balloting system will determine allocation to ensure fairness.
This scheme is part of Pakistan’s broader electric vehicle roadmap, aiming to put 2 million e-bikes on the roads by 2030, along with electric rickshaws, cars, buses, and trucks to modernize the transport sector and reduce air pollution.
