
Getting your first National Identity Card (CNIC) is now easier, quicker, and more user-friendly than ever before.
According to NADRA officials, every Pakistani citizen who turns 18 should apply for their CNIC, as it is the first legal step toward being officially recognized as a citizen.
Required Documents for First-Time CNIC Applicants:
- Computerized birth certificate (issued by the Union Council or Cantonment Board)
- CNIC of one parent or sibling
- In case a parent is deceased or missing, legal guardianship documents and an affidavit approved by NADRA must be provided
Application Steps:
1. Token Issuance:
Upon entering the NADRA Registration Center, get a token from the reception and wait for your turn.
2. Biometric Verification:
When your number is called, go to the counter. Biometric verification of one parent or sibling will be required.
3. Data Entry:
Provide all required personal details. Your fingerprints and photograph will be taken. A printout of the form will be given to you — check all information carefully and correct any errors immediately.

4. Form Attestation:
The form must be verified through biometric verification of one parent or sibling.
If you’re applying under legal guardianship, your form must be attested by a designated officer or public representative. Additionally, you must provide an affidavit and bring a witness holding a valid CNIC.
5. Final Interview:
After form submission, the NADRA office in-charge will ask you a few questions about your family members (such as parents or siblings) to verify your information.
6. Fee Payment:
Once the application is approved, a confirmation SMS will be sent to your registered mobile number. Pay the applicable fee at the NADRA office or online according to your chosen category:
o Executive Category: Rs. 2,500 (Card ready in 7 days)
o Urgent Category: Rs. 1,500 (Ready in 15 days)
o Normal Category: Rs. 750 (Ready in 30 days)
7. Receipt & Delivery:
Once the processing time is completed based on your selected category, collect your CNIC from the same NADRA center.
