(Web Desk): The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has announced new key changes to the National Identity Card Rules 2002 as per an official announcement.

The changes are made in order to prevent human trafficking and end fake registrations. As per the official announcement, obtaining a B-form birth registration at the local union council level will now be compulsory.

The revised B-form registration guidelines entail Biometric data or photographs of children up to 3 years old are not needed. A photograph and eye scan will be compulsory for children of ages between 3 and 10. Photographs, eye scans and biometric data are required for children of ages 10 to 18. A separate B form with a validity period will be issued to each child. A new B form is necessary to apply for a passport, even though the previous one will still be valid.

In addition to the new B-Form rules, NADRA has also launched a new chipless identity card; it is cheap and fast. These cards include data in both Urdu and English and a QR code for verification without the extra fee.

These changes will not only enhance security but also make ID documentation a lot easier and accessible.

NADRA, in its recent announcement, urged people to get their records corrected – those who have made ID cards with wrong or outdated information.
