(Web Desk): The Sindh government has officially announced the routes for Karachi Yellow Line Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project.

The BRT Yellow Line project is designed to use only electric buses, making it Pakistan’s first fully eco-friendly transit line.

Sindh’s Senior Minister for Transport, Sharjeel Inam Memon, shared the update during a meeting with a World Bank delegation. The meeting took place at the Yellow Line project site near Jam Sadiq Bridge.

World Bank-funded Yellow Line will extend from Dawood Chowrangi in Quaidabad to Numaish via important thoroughfares like Korangi Industrial Area, Main Korangi Road, FTC Interchange, Sharea Faisal, Shahrah-e-Quaideen, and Kashmir Road, before joining the Red Line at Numaish.

Describing it as a "visionary step" for Karachi, Memon added that the project would offer secure, speedy, and economical transport for the public while reducing environmental harm with the sole use of electric buses.

He pointed out that with their leadership, Pakistan s first electric bus service and the women-exclusive Pink Bus had already been initiated and are running successfully. The Yellow Line, he further stated, would reduce fuel expenses and pollution even further.

Memon also pointed out that a women-only electric scooter scheme had received more than 8,000 applications and referred to the Yellow Line as a pillar of "social change," rather than a transport service.

Further, he updated the delegation on developments for the Karachi Circular Railway and the Karachi-Sukkur high-speed train project
