Klara Kolouchova, 46, who was the first Czech woman to summit both Mount Everest and K2, lost her life on Thursday after slipping on the lower slopes of Nanga Parbat.
“Nanga Parbat has a reputation for being one of the most dangerous peaks in the world, with a fatality rate of around 20%,” said Nizam-ud-Din, a senior official in the Diamer district.

“She slipped on a slope and fell into a ravine,” he added, noting that a teammate had reported the incident.
Authorities are working to confirm the exact location of her body. Once pinpointed, a helicopter rescue operation will be launched to retrieve her remains.
Notably, Nanga Parbat, known locally as Diamer, is the ninth-highest mountain on Earth and its summit is at 8,126 m above sea level.
