(Web Desk): A powerful cloudburst around Babusar Top has triggered heavy landslides and flash flooding, affecting a 7 to 8-kilometer stretch and blocking roads at 14 to 15 key points.

According to the NDMA (National Disaster Management Authority), many tourists stranded in the area have been safely moved to secure places, including Chilas.
Sadly, five bodies have been recovered from the floodwater, while more than 15 others remain missing after flash floods struck the Babusar-Thak Road in Diamer, Gilgit-Baltistan, on Monday. As a result, roads have been closed at around 15 points.
The Karakoram Highway (KKH) is also blocked at Lal Parhi and Tatta Pani, while Babusar Road remains entirely cut off. Officials said 10 to 15 vehicles are currently stuck in flood-affected nallahs and landslide zones.

Rescue teams are actively working to clear vehicles trapped in the debris. The NDMA says efforts are ongoing to reopen the roads and they’re in constant coordination with local authorities.
Meanwhile, the deputy commissioner and Superintendent of Police (SP) Diamer visited the disaster-hit site and reached as far as possible before being forced to halt due to impassable terrain.
The NDMA has urged the public to avoid unnecessary travel in the affected areas until the situation improves. With landslides and flash floods continuing in mountainous regions, it’s important to stay alert and follow safety guidelines.
