Quetta (Web Desk): The Balochistan government has officially announced the suspension of mobile internet services across the province on the occasion of 12 Rabi-ul-Awal.

According to the provincial Home Department, directives were issued to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) through the federal Interior Ministry to ensure timely suspension.

The notification confirms that 3G and 4G mobile internet services will remain shut from September 5 at 5 pm until September 6 at 9 pm.

Officials explained that the step is being taken due to security concerns to prevent any untoward incident during religious gatherings.

In addition, wireless internet services of PTCL and NTC will also remain suspended in several districts including Quetta, Noshki, Khuzdar, Mastung, and Sibi.

The decision means that citizens will not have access to the internet during this period, affecting daily routines, online businesses, and communication needs.

However, authorities assured that the suspension is temporary, and services will be fully restored after 9 pm on September 6.

The administration has urged people to make necessary preparations in advance to avoid inconvenience.

Internet shutdowns in Balochistan on religious and sensitive occasions have become common practice to ensure law and order.

While officials argue it is a preventive measure for security, such actions raise concerns about the economic cost and disruption to digital life.

Online businesses, students, and professionals are often the most affected.

Balancing security needs with public convenience remains a challenge, especially in a province where connectivity is already limited compared to other regions.
