Upon arrival at GHQ, Colonel General Valiyev was presented with a Guard of Honour by a contingent of the Pakistan Army and laid a floral wreath at the Yadgar-e-Shuhada (Martyrs’ Monument).

According to Inter-Services Public Relation (ISPR) statement, during this meeting COAS discussed matters of mutual interest along with the current global and regional security situation. The Azerbaijani Chief of General Staff praised the professional excellence and achievements of the Pakistan Army in the Battle of Haq.

The delegation conveyed best wishes on the occasions of Pakistan’s Independence Day and Victory celebrations, ISPR statement read.

The Army Chief thanked Azerbaijan’s leadership and people for their support during the Battle of Haq and for sending an Azerbaijani contingent to participate in the Independence Day parade.

Colonel General Karim Valiyev also presented Field Marshal Asim Munir with the Patriotic War Medal for Military Cooperation Services, on behalf of President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan. According to ISPR, the award recognizes Field Marshal Munir’s outstanding contributions to strengthening military cooperation between Pakistan and Azerbaijan.

General Valiyev appreciated Pakistan’s unwavering efforts in combating terrorism and reiterated Azerbaijan’s commitment to enhancing cooperation in the defense and security sectors. He also thanked Pakistan for its warm hospitality and consistent support to Azerbaijan.
