KARACHI (Irshad Sanjarani): Pakistan’s Civil Aviation Authority has completed its investigation into the mistaken international flight of a domestic passenger, holding AirSial responsible for a serious operational error.

The Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has completed its investigation of the shocking case in which a domestic passenger was flown to Jeddah instead of Karachi. The incident, which occurred on July 7, involved a passenger named Malik Shahzain, who had booked a flight from Lahore to Karachi but was mistakenly placed on an international flight to Jeddah by AirSial staff.

The investigation was launched after media reports highlighted the issue. On the orders of Director General CAA, Nadir Shafi Dar, Director Aviation Security Shahid Qadir initiated a formal inquiry into the matter. According to sources, the findings clearly establish that AirSial’s staff was at fault, and the error has been categorized as a serious operational lapse.

The CAA has recommended strict action against AirSial. This includes the issuance of a show-cause notice and a financial penalty for the negligence that led to the international misplacement of a domestic passenger.

“The Civil Aviation Authority will not tolerate such grave lapses by any airline,” the report stated. “Such incidents raise serious concerns about aviation safety and procedural compliance.”

The CAA has officially finalized its probe and submitted recommendations for disciplinary action. A senior official confirmed that AirSial is to be fined, and a show-cause notice will be issued to the airline shortly.

Further actions against the airline will be based on their response to the CAA s show-cause notice, sources added.
