According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operation was conducted in the Doga area of Kurram following intelligence reports about the presence of the “Indian-backed Khawarij network”. During the operation, Pakistan Army troops fought bravely, eliminating seven militants on the spot.
However, in the intense gun battle, six soldiers, including Captain Nauman Saleem, embraced martyrdom. The martyred officers and soldiers were identified as Captain Nauman Saleem, Havaldar Amjad Ali, Naik Waqas Ahmed, Sepoy Ejaz Ali, Sepoy Muhammad Waleed, and Sepoy Muhammad Shahbaz.
Captain Nauman Saleem, aged 24, was serving as a medical officer and belonged to Mianwali district.

President Asif Ali Zardari paid glowing tribute to the martyred soldiers, honouring Captain Nauman Saleem and his five companions for their supreme sacrifice. He praised the professionalism, courage, and determination of Pakistan’s security forces in their fight against terrorism.
President Zardari said the nation takes pride in its brave sons who laid down their lives for peace and security. He vowed that under the vision of “Azm-e-Istahkam”, operations against the Indian-sponsored Khawarij militants will continue until terrorism is completely eradicated.
He expressed heartfelt condolences to the families of the martyrs and prayed for their strength and patience in this difficult time.
