According to the Punjab Home Department, these units will use modern jamming technology to stop drones that enemies of Pakistan or criminal groups could operate. Officials say the system will help prevent possible security threats.
The government also plans to use specialized drone fleets for aerial surveillance. These drones will monitor the airspace of each district to detect any unusual or suspicious flying activity.
Each anti-drone unit will operate under the supervision of the District Police Officer DPO of the respective district. The DPO will be responsible for managing the system and responding to any drone-related security threat.

Authorities say the technology is specifically designed to disable drones being used illegally. The system will block signals and force the drone to stop functioning or land safely.
At the same time, Section 144 is already in force across Punjab. This law bans the flying of outdoor drones by the public because of security concerns.
The move comes after the federal government recently banned drone operations across Pakistan following rising tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
The tensions increased after border clashes started on February 26, when the Afghan Taliban regime allegedly carried out unprovoked attacks. After the incident, the government tightened security measures across the country.
During a press briefing on February 27, Inter-Services Public Relations Director General Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said security forces had successfully foiled drone attacks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Abbottabad and Nowshera during the clashes.

Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar also confirmed that security forces neutralized several small drones launched by Fitna al-Khawarij militants in parts of KP after tensions with the Taliban regime escalated.
Authorities believe the new anti-drone units in Punjab will strengthen surveillance and help prevent similar incidents in the future.
