In order to promote transparency, competence and effectiveness, Lahore traffic authorities have taken a major step by introducing Artificial Intelligence (AI)-enabled vehicles. The traffic authorities will conduct the driving examination test by these AI enabled vehicles to combat nepotism and corruption.

Authorities say, this step will help to use advanced technology to improve the credibility and quality of driving tests.

The procurement process for 44 AI-equipped vehicles is now in its final phase, and the complete fleet is expected to arrive at the traffic headquarters by next week. Initially, the order included a smaller number of vehicles; however, it was later expanded to 44 units in order to effectively meet the increasing demand at various driving test centers. The decision to increase the number of vehicles was made to improve capacity and ensure smoother operations during driving tests.

The buying rate of this vehicle is Rs4.8 million and the cost of the specialized testing equipment, that needs to be installed ranges from Rs 400,000 to Rs 500,000.

Vehicles have been tested at the traffic headquarters. The AI-enabled vehicles will be equipped with cutting-edge sensors, cameras, and biometric systems, providing a fully automated testing process that is fair, transparent, and consistent for all applicants.
