“The PTI government is seeking help from Afghanistan [...] the PTI is also resisting counter-terrorism efforts at every forum,” the military’s spokesperson said during a press briefing in Rawalpindi.
He said nearly 71% of all terrorist incidents reported in 2025 occurred in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK), mainly due to what he called a “politically conducive environment and the flourishing 'political-criminal-terror-nexus' in the province.
An annual report by the ‘Centre for Research and Security Studies’ supported these concerns, showing fatalities in KP rose from 1,620 in 2024 to 2,331 in 2025, an increase of over 40%.

Calling remarks against military operations “ridiculous, he asked, “If you do not want a military operation, then what should be done — sit at the feet of khawarij?” He also questioned whether Noor Wali Mehsud should be made chief minister and whether loyalty should be pledged to him.
Referring to governance issues, the ISPR chief said illegal mining in KP and the spread of illegal weapons were directly linked to terrorism.
India-Afghan nexus
Speaking on tensions with Afghanistan, Lt Gen Chaudhry said Afghan Taliban forces had attacked Pakistani border posts, and Pakistan responded firmly. “Afghanistan has become the center of terrorist operations in the region,” he said.
He alleged that the Afghan Taliban regime had found a “new hero” in Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and claimed the link between Fitna Al-Khawarij and India was fully exposed in 2025.

He warned that if Afghanistan and India wished to confront Pakistan, “We will fulfill their desire.”
Referring to the Doha agreement, he said the Afghan Taliban had promised to eliminate terrorism from their soil but failed to do so, turning Afghanistan into a hub for ‘Fitna Al-Khawarij’ and ‘Fitna al-Hindustan’.
He said 2,597 terrorists were killed during operations. He added that Afghan militants were involved in all 10 major terror attacks highlighted during the briefing, with civilians deliberately targeted.
Video confessions of arrested terrorists were also shown. He said 21 civilians were martyred in the Jaffar Express attack, while attacks in Noshki and Quetta also killed innocent people.

He claimed the attack on the Frontier Corps (FC) headquarters in Quetta was carried out by Afghans and said a similar attack occurred in Peshawar. He also warned that Afghan terrorists tried to repeat the 2014 APS attack at Cadet College Wana.
“This is a war of the nation, a war of every single child,” he said, rejecting the idea that it was only the army’s fight.
