LAHORE (Web Desk): An Improvised Explosive Device (IED) attack in Panjgur killed one person and injured 16 in a busy bazaar, spreading fear as a planted motorbike bomb exploded near civilians.

Panjgur Assistant Commissioner Amir Jan said the IED was planted in a motorbike. He confirmed that three injured people are in serious condition. “Two children are also among the injured. “

Local police officials said a Frontier Corps (FC) vehicle was likely the target of the attack. However, the vehicle passed safely, and no FC personnel were harmed.

A senior local administration official said the explosive-laden motorbike was parked near a pushcart in the main bazaar. The area was crowded at the time of the blast, increasing the number of casualties.

Another police officer said initial investigations suggest the explosion was carried out using a remote-control device. Security forces cordoned off the area and launched a search operation.

The attack comes as Pakistan faces rising militant violence. Despite record militant deaths, terrorist attacks increased sharply in 2025.

Data from the Islamabad-based Pak Institute for Peace Studies (PIPS) shows terrorist attacks rose by 34 %, while terrorism-related deaths increased by 21% compared to the previous year.
