Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has warned India that Pakistan’s water rights are a red line and vowed a strong response if New Delhi does not change course.

Addressing the inauguration of the Yadgar-e-Fatah, the prime minister said the enemy would always remember its defeat in the “Marka-e-Haq.” He described the monument as a symbol of national unity, courage and determination.

Shehbaz said Pakistan wants peace and does not want its peaceful approach to be mistaken for weakness. He added that Pakistan wants the region and the world to be free from conflicts.

The prime minister said disputes should be resolved according to United Nations resolutions. He also praised the armed forces, particularly the leadership of the Pakistan Air Force and Navy, for their role in the victory.

According to Shehbaz, the completion of the Yadgar-e-Fatah in just eight months was made possible through the special interest of Field Marshal Asim Munir.

He also highlighted Pakistan’s strong friendship with China, saying Beijing has stood by Islamabad like a rock during difficult times.

Shehbaz expressed hope that Pakistan-US relations would become stronger in the future. He also said Pakistan wants peace in Afghanistan.

The prime minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s continued moral, political and diplomatic support for Kashmiris and said Islamabad would maintain its principled position on the rights of Palestinians.
