Pakistan Navy foils major smuggling attempt in Pishukan
The operation was conducted with support from the Joint Maritime Information Coordination Centre (JMICC), according to the military’s media wing.
Officials launched the operation after receiving actionable intelligence about a suspected smuggling attempt in the area.
The joint team confiscated a large quantity of liquor and illegal medicines during the operation. The seized items were later handed over to the Pakistan Coast Guards for further legal proceedings.
The exact quantity and estimated value of the confiscated goods were not immediately disclosed.
Joint operation targets smuggling network
The operation highlighted the role of coordination between maritime and security agencies in preventing the movement of illegal goods.
The military’s media wing said the successful action reflected the resolve of the Pakistan Navy and Pakistan Coast Guards to stop the use of Pakistani waters and land for illicit activities.
The operation also demonstrated the importance of timely intelligence-sharing and cooperation between relevant institutions.
Authorities regularly conduct anti-smuggling operations in coastal areas to prevent the movement of contraband and other restricted items.
The seized goods will now be dealt with under the relevant laws, while further details about those involved in the alleged smuggling attempt may emerge during the investigation.

Prime minister praises security personnel
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the Pakistan Navy and Pakistan Coast Guards for foiling what was described as a major smuggling attempt.
The prime minister is currently in the United States to attend the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.
While appreciating the operation, Shehbaz Sharif said that stronger coordination between institutions was necessary to eliminate smuggling from the country.
He also praised the professionalism, vigilance and operational readiness of the personnel who took part in the action.
The prime minister’s remarks came as security agencies continued efforts to strengthen monitoring along Pakistan’s coastal and land routes.

Pakistan Navy begins SEASPARK-2026 exercise
Separately, the Pakistan Navy has started its major maritime exercise, SEASPARK-2026, in Karachi.
The exercise is aimed at testing and improving the navy’s operational readiness against conventional and emerging maritime threats.
The Chief of the Naval Staff presided over the opening briefing, which was attended by senior officers from Pakistan’s armed forces.
The exercise involves a wide range of military assets, including ships, submarines, aircraft, unmanned systems, marines and special forces.
Elements of the Pakistan Army and Pakistan Air Force are also taking part in the exercise to strengthen coordination among the three services.
The drills are designed to assess the navy’s ability to respond to changing security challenges and operate effectively in different conditions.
