The operation came just one day after unidentified gunmen attacked a vehicle on the National Highway in Mastung. A district and sessions judge and his security guard were killed in the attack, while an additional sessions judge and another person suffered serious injuries.
After the shooting, security forces and law enforcement agencies surrounded the area, launched a search operation and set up checkpoints to trace and arrest those involved.
According to security sources, the terrorists targeted in the latest operation belonged to “Fitna al-Hindustan,” a term used by the state for members of the banned Balochistan Liberation Army and other militant groups operating in the province.
A large cache of weapons and ammunition was recovered during the operation. Security forces also seized motorcycles allegedly being used by the terrorists.
The sources said intelligence reports confirmed that several other terrorists were injured during the operation. They also claimed that multiple suspects accused of helping the militant network were arrested.
Search and clearance operations are still continuing in the area, while security personnel remain on high alert and are closely monitoring the situation.
Security sources said intelligence-based operations in Khad Kocha have been stepped up following recent terrorist incidents. They added that the campaign will continue until terrorism is eliminated and peace is fully restored in the region.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi praised the security forces for the successful operation and appreciated their professionalism. He said their timely action had foiled the terrorists’ plans.
“The entire nation stands with its brave security forces in the fight against terrorism,” the interior minister said. He also claimed that ongoing operations in Balochistan would continue and that attempts by militant groups to disturb peace in Pakistan would fail.
