The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) killed three militants during an intelligence-based operation in the Shangla district, officials confirmed on Tuesday.
According to CTD authorities, the operation was carried out in the mountainous area of Kabal Gram after receiving secret information about the presence of militants linked to the banned group Fitna al-Khawarij. Among those killed was a key commander, Noor Islam alias Salman, who was reportedly involved in several major attacks.
The operation was conducted with the support of police and the Elite Force. Officials said the militants had taken shelter inside caves in the mountains. As soon as security forces approached, the militants opened heavy fire, triggering an intense exchange of gunfire.
CTD officials stated that the killed militants were wanted in multiple serious cases, including attacks on foreign nationals and other acts of terrorism. The confrontation was described as fierce and prolonged due to the difficult terrain and the militants’ strong defensive positions.
