A powerful blast near a police vehicle in the Lakki Marwat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa left at least six police personnel martyred, and one injured, officials confirmed. According to a police spokesperson, the explosion occurred close to a police mobile in the Bettani tribal area.
The blast caused heavy damage and resulted in the deaths of six officers who were performing their duties in the area. One policeman also sustained injuries in the incident and was shifted for medical treatment.
Soon after the explosion, additional police contingents were dispatched to the area to secure the site and begin an investigation. Authorities also launched search operations to collect evidence and ensure security in nearby areas.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi strongly condemned the incident and paid tribute to the martyred police personnel. He expressed heartfelt sympathy and condolences to the families of the fallen officers and praised their sacrifice for the country.
Pakistan has witnessed a rise in terrorist activities in recent years, particularly in the provinces of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, which share borders with Afghanistan. Security officials say militant groups often attempt to target security forces in these regions.
In response to increasing attacks, Pakistan launched “Operation Ghazab lil-Haq” to eliminate terrorist networks operating along the border. According to officials, during the operation, at least 641 Afghan Taliban fighters were killed in strikes conducted along the border and inside neighboring Afghanistan.

Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said more than 855 Afghan Taliban fighters were also injured during the operation.
He added that security forces destroyed 243 checkposts, captured 42 positions, and eliminated 219 tanks, armoured vehicles, and artillery guns used by militants. Earlier, Pakistan also targeted seven terrorist camps and hideouts belonging to Fitna al Khawarij and Daesh-Khorasan.
Security sources said these camps were located near the Pakistan-Afghanistan border and were used for planning attacks. Airstrikes were carried out in Afghanistan’s Nangarhar, Paktika, and Khost provinces, where more than 80 militants were reportedly killed.
In October 2025, tensions also escalated when Afghan Taliban fighters and militants launched attacks on Pakistan’s border posts. The clashes that followed resulted in the killing of more than 200 Taliban and affiliated militants.
During the same fighting, 23 Pakistani soldiers were martyred while defending the country’s borders. Despite several rounds of talks between the two countries, tensions remain, as Pakistan says the Afghan Taliban government has not taken strong action against militant groups.
