(Web Desk): Police and CTD killed eight militants in Bannu during a joint operation, with one officer martyred and another injured in the exchange of fire.

Security forces carried out a major counter-terrorism operation in the Meryan area of Bannu under the jurisdiction of Meryan Police Station Bannu, where eight militants were killed and several others injured in a joint action by police and the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD).

According to official sources, the exchange of fire was intense during the raid, resulting in the martyrdom of one police officer while another sustained injuries. The injured personnel were immediately shifted to a nearby medical facility for treatment.

Inspector General of Police Zulfiqar Hameed praised the courage and professionalism of the Bannu police, stating that their swift response prevented further escalation of violence in the region.

Officials noted that following a recent attack on a police checkpoint in Bannu that claimed the lives of 15 personnel, security forces have intensified operations and heightened surveillance against militant elements operating in the area.

Authorities said that security forces are maintaining strict monitoring of all suspected networks and activities linked to militant groups, vowing that such elements will not be allowed to destabilize peace in the region.

Officials further emphasized that terrorism has no space in Pakistan and reiterated that any group involved in violence against civilians or law enforcement will face a strong and decisive response.

The operation, they added, reflects improved coordination between police and CTD units, highlighting their growing capability in counter-terrorism efforts across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
