ISLAMABAD (Suno News): Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) attacked on religion and foreign policy of Pakistan, following its tradition to use religion for petty political gains.

The current controversy was erupted when imprisoned PTI founder Imran Khan’ s wife and former first lady, Bushra Bibi, remarked about brotherly country Saudi Arabia’s involvement in toppling Imran Khan-led government in 2022.

Alleging brotherly country Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), Bushra Bibi described the country as anti-Shariah.

The analysts call it a ‘grave attack’ against Saudi Arabia which could have serious repercussions for diplomatic relations between two countries.

It is pertinent to mention that Saudi Arabia always helps Pakistan and stands with the country through thick and thin.

Analysts are of the view that PTI, following its tradition of using religion for petty political gains, has not only targetted Pakistan’s closest ally Saudi Arabia but also created dangers for Pakistan’s foreign policy. Her statement could affect relations with KSA.

Deputy PM Ishaq Dar’s response

Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, reacting to accusations made by Bushra Bibi, described the statements as ‘reflection of despondency.’

He went on to say that relations between two Islamic nations are based on mutual respect, adding that both countries make proud of their decades-old friendship.

It is regrettable that PTI is levelling allegations against Saudi Arabia, he stated.

He further said that hurling these accusations is unacceptable for Pakistan.

The political pandits state that this statement is a suicide attack for PTI which can harm Pakistan’s diplomatic relations.

On the other hand, people, on their social media accounts, also criticised Bushra Bibi for making such remarks. Some users highlight the importance of Saudi Arabia for Pakistan.

Analysts say that this statement has left a question mark on the increasing use of religion for petty political purposes.
