RAWALPINDI: (Web Desk) In a press briefing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said that India targeted civilians and damaged Neelum-Jhelum Hydropower Project.

Addressing the briefing, the military spokesman confirmed that 26 civilians embraced martyrdom.

The ISPR DG explained that India carried out unprovoked attacks on Pakistan during the night between May 6 and 7, targeting six different locations, including mosques and civilian areas.

Indian forces deliberately targeted places of worship in different cities, including Ahmedpur East (Sharqia) and Muridke.

Condemning the attacks, this reflects the Hindutva mindset of the Modi government, he said.

In Ahmedpur East, a mosque was struck, injuring 37 people, including nine women and three young girls.

A mosque in Muridke was also targeted, resulting in the martyrdom of three men and injured one.

In unprovoked Indian firing along the Line of Control (LoC), five more civilians, including a child, were martyred.

Lt General Chaudhry stated that there’s no casualty in Sialkot and Shakargarh.

ISPR DG clarified that no Indian aircraft was allowed to enter Pakistan’s airspace and none of Pakistan’s jets went into the airspace.

India also targeted Pakistan’s water system, targeting a dam project on river Jhelum.

“Does international and war laws allow targeting the water reserves of a country?” ISPR DG asked.

He said, a day ago, local and foreign journalists visited the same locations and saw there was nothing there.

Responding promptly to the Indian incursion, the Pakistan Armed Forces launched a strong counterattack. According to ISPR Director General Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, the Pakistan Air Force shot down five Indian fighter jets, including three Rafale aircraft and a MiG-29, over areas such as Bathinda, Jammu, and Srinagar.

“The Indian jets were downed as they launched an attack on Pakistan,” he stated.

The Pakistan Army also struck key Indian military installations, including the destruction of the Indian Infantry Brigade Headquarters and multiple check posts in Danna, Gafdar, Dodhial, Chhatri, and Khaki Tekri.

In the Badori sector, Pakistan’s counteroffensive forced around 50 Indian soldiers to abandon the Jolly Post.

“Our armed forces gave a befitting response in a short time. The Pakistan Air Force did not allow any Indian aircraft to enter our territory. All Pakistani military and strategic assets remain completely safe,” the ISPR DG affirmed.

He further noted that today’s scheduled visits by local and international media to sites such as Muridke and Bahawalpur served to provide transparency and directly refute Indian disinformation, particularly since those very locations were targeted by India’s missile strikes.

This latest move by India represents a serious violation of the ceasefire agreement along the Line of Control and a dangerous escalation of hostilities. Pakistani authorities have condemned the attack as a “cowardly and regrettable act,” vowing to raise the matter on all international platforms.
