(Web Desk): The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has demanded clear answers from the government after fresh rumours about Imran Khan’s health sparked the trend ‘Where is Imran Khan?’ on social media.

The party called for an immediate meeting between the jailed former prime minister and his family, saying his sisters have repeatedly been denied access in recent weeks. Their concerns deepened as they staged sit-ins outside Adiala jail, questioning his condition and location.

Unverified posts on X, including claims from Afghan and Indian accounts, alleged that Imran Khan had been “killed” in custody. Some Indian outlets even used old photos to push these rumours, adding confusion and panic among supporters.

PTI, in a statement on X, said “rumours of a despicable nature” were being spread from “Afghan and Indian media, and foreign social media accounts”. It urged the government and interior ministry to dismiss the rumours immediately and arrange a family meeting without delay.

The party demanded a “formal and transparent statement” from the state about Imran’s health, security and current status. PTI also asked authorities to investigate those spreading sensitive misinformation and present verified facts before the public.

PTI warned that the nation “will not tolerate any uncertainty” about Imran Khan. It insisted that the government is responsible for his safety, human rights and constitutional protections, adding that the party will take “every legal and political step” to counter false claims.

PTI leader Meher Bano Qureshi said the rumours were alarming and stressed that only a meeting with Imran Khan’s sisters, lawyers and party members could end speculation.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting rejected what it called “false claims by Afghan and Indian social media alleging that Imran had been killed in jail”. Its fact-checking cell said the rumours originated from two Afghan propaganda handles known for fabrications.

These rumours show how quickly misinformation spreads when transparency is lacking. PTI’s strong reaction reflects growing political tension. Experts believe a clear state-issued health update could immediately calm the situation. Without it, speculation may continue to shape public opinion and fuel political instability.
