ISLAMABAD (Web Desk): The Supreme Court has returned the govt review petition on Imran Khan’s hospital transfer after procedural objections were raised over required documents.

The Supreme Court Registrar’s Office has returned the government’s review petition challenging an order concerning the transfer of PTI founder Imran Khan from Adiala Jail to Shifa Hospital.

The petition was filed by the Islamabad chief commissioner, who approached the top court seeking a review of its earlier order.

According to sources, the Registrar’s Office identified shortcomings in the documents submitted with the review petition.

The objections are procedural and do not concern the merits of the government’s challenge.

Supreme Court raises objections

Sources said the Registrar’s Office raised objections to the review petition and subsequently returned it to the government.

One of the main issues was that the required paper books had not been completed and attached to the petition.

Paper books contain the documents and material required for the court to examine a case properly. Their completion is part of the procedural requirements for such petitions.

The government will now have to address the deficiencies identified by the Registrar’s Office before the case can move forward.

The return of the petition does not mean that the Supreme Court has rejected the government’s arguments on the hospital transfer.

Govt plans to file petition again

Sources said the government plans to submit the review petition again after removing the objections.

Officials are expected to complete the required paperwork and attach the necessary documents before resubmitting the case.

The government’s review concerns the Supreme Court order regarding Imran Khan’s proposed transfer from Adiala Jail to Shifa Hospital.

The chief commissioner had sought a review of that order, but the petition has not yet reached the stage of consideration on its merits.

The latest development means the government must first complete the procedural requirements set out by the Registrar’s Office.

What happens next

Once the required documents are completed, the government can resubmit the review petition before the Supreme Court.

The Registrar’s Office will then examine whether the objections have been addressed and whether the petition meets the required procedural conditions.

If the filing is accepted, the review petition could proceed according to the court’s normal process.

The latest development therefore creates a procedural delay rather than ending the government’s attempt to challenge the earlier order.

The issue is expected to remain under attention as the government prepares the petition for fresh submission.

Why the development matters

The case concerns a Supreme Court order linked to the possible transfer of Imran Khan from Adiala Jail to Shifa Hospital.

However, the latest action by the Registrar’s Office is focused on paperwork and filing requirements.

The government will need to correct the identified shortcomings before its review request can be considered further.
