(Web Desk): The foreign women rape case has taken a new turn, with an incomplete police report clearing five suspects of sexual assault charges.

However, the report accused them of other alleged crimes, including illegal detention and extortion. Police have charged three other suspects with allegedly sexually assaulting the two foreign women.

Police report reveals details of the case

The case relates to an alleged gang rape and detention of two foreign women in July. Defence C police registered a case under several sections of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC), including kidnapping for extortion, rape, destruction of evidence and wrongful confinement.

According to the investigation report, the women said they met one of the main suspects in Singapore in 2025. They reportedly invited him to invest in their cryptocurrency business, and he initially received returns on his investment.

The suspect later invested another $500,000, but the women allegedly failed to pay him profits or return his money. Police said this financial dispute later became part of the alleged kidnapping and extortion case.

Women allegedly detained and forced to transfer money

In June 2026, the suspect invited the women to Pakistan, claiming that he would arrange a meeting with another investor. They stayed at a hotel in Islamabad and also travelled to Murree and other areas.

The police report alleged that the suspect later told an associate that the women owed him money. That associate then involved another main suspect, who was identified in the report as “boss”.

On June 29, the women were allegedly taken to a house in Defence Phase VII, Lahore. Police said they were held there and pressured to pay the disputed amount.

According to the investigation, the women were forced to transfer around $19,500, which was converted into Pakistani rupees through a bank account in Lahore. The report stated that two suspects allegedly received Rs1.1 million each from the money.

The women also alleged that armed men guarded them inside the house and threatened them with a knife, a gun and a broken mirror. They were reportedly warned that they would be killed and their body parts sold if they failed to meet the demands.

Police identify three suspects in sexual assault allegations

The incomplete report stated that the complainants’ statements and other investigation findings pointed towards three suspects in the alleged sexual assault. However, police said they found no evidence of rape against the remaining five suspects, including a relative of a senior political figure and the person identified as “boss”.

The report also explained how the women managed to escape on July 1. They were being taken to the airport when their car met with an accident near Bhatta Chowk in Lahore.

The women raised an alarm after the accident, prompting the relative of the senior political figure to flee. Police then took the women into their protection.

Police claimed to have recovered Rs4.3 million allegedly taken from the women, along with a mobile phone and a vehicle believed to have been used in the crime. Investigators also recovered pistols and a rifle, leading to separate cases under the Arms Ordinance.

Medical tests and further investigation

The police report also named other suspects over their alleged roles in the incident. One was accused of renting the house to the group without informing the authorities, while another was allegedly involved in helping destroy evidence.

Police added Sections 368 and 201 of the Pakistan Penal Code to the case over the allegations of wrongful confinement and destruction of evidence. Medical examinations of both women were also conducted as part of the investigation.

Their statements were recorded before a magistrate under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure. Investigators also conducted DNA, fingerprint and polygraph tests and obtained call data records to examine the allegations.

The incomplete police report has brought an important development in the case, but it does not mean that all allegations have been finally decided. Five suspects have been cleared of sexual assault charges in this report, while three others face those allegations.

The financial dispute, alleged threats, detention and recovery of money are also important parts of the case. The court will examine the available evidence and decide the legal responsibility of each suspect.
