Girl kills younger sister over TikTok followers dispute in Gujranwala
Police said the 18-year-old suspect has been arrested and the alleged murder weapon recovered.
The incident took place in the Ladhewala Warraich area of Gujranwala city. Police said the sisters were reportedly active on TikTok and had been trying to earn money through the platform.
Father finds daughter injured
According to the complaint, Abdul Shakoor, a driver and father of seven, was at home when some guests arrived on Tuesday. He was talking to them downstairs when he heard screams coming from the upper floor.
When he reached the upper storey, he found his 15-year-old daughter Manahil seriously injured and covered in blood. She had allegedly been attacked with a kitchen knife by her 18-year-old sister.
Manahil was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. However, she died from severe blood loss, according to the complaint.
Dispute over TikTok followers
Police and local residents said both sisters were using TikTok in an effort to earn money because of their family’s difficult financial situation. The elder sister allegedly accused Manahil of ‘stealing’ her followers on the social media platform.
Police said the sisters had also been arguing over financial matters. The dispute reportedly became serious before the fatal attack took place.
Police arrest suspect
Ladhewala Warraich police said they arrested the elder sister after the incident. The alleged knife used in the attack was also recovered during the investigation.
Police have registered a case against the suspect, who was reportedly handed over to officers by her father. Further investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances that led to the killing.
The case shows how an online dispute can become extremely serious when it is mixed with financial pressure and family conflict. However, the exact motive and sequence of events will become clearer after the police complete their investigation.
The allegations against the suspect have not been proven in court. The investigation and legal proceedings will determine responsibility based on the available evidence.
