Ex-minister wants FIR against ex-wife over AI pictures before marriage

Former Sindh minister Ghulam Rasool Unnar had approached a sessions court seeking registration of an FIR against his ex-wife, Razia Arbab, under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act. Arbab has rejected the allegations and said the case was filed because of a “personal grudge”.

Ex-wife rejects allegations

Arbab submitted written objections through her lawyer before District and Sessions Judge (South) Muhammad Aslam Sheikh. She said her “78-year-old ex-husband had levelled baseless allegations” against her.

According to her response, she was invited to the home of one of Unnar’s friends before the marriage, where she was photographed. She alleged that her former husband later tried to harass her by approaching the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency with a complaint.

Property dispute adds to legal battle

Arbab also alleged that Unnar used his “political influence” while pursuing the cybercrime complaint. She said the dispute also involves a separate case filed by her in a Hyderabad court.

She told the court that she filed the lawsuit on July 30, seeking Rs10 million and 50 acres of agricultural land mentioned in the nikahnama. She also sought Rs100,000 in monthly maintenance.

Court adjourns hearing

Arbab informed the court that she could not appear earlier because she was observing her iddat period. The court heard her objections before Unnar’s lawyer, Advocate Aamir Nawaz Warraich, requested more time to respond.

The court accepted the request and adjourned the hearing until Aug 29. The allegations made by both sides have not been finally decided by the court.

The case involves more than the alleged AI-generated pictures, as the two former spouses are also engaged in a dispute over property and financial claims. The next hearing could provide more details about the evidence and legal grounds behind the FIR request.

For now, the allegations remain contested, with Unnar seeking legal action and Arbab strongly denying the claims. The court’s further proceedings will determine how the case moves forward.
