ISLAMABAD: (Suno News) A 13-judge full court of the Supreme Court (SC), headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Qazi Faez Isa, is hearing the reserved seats case of the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC).

Justice Musarrat Hilali is not part of the SC full court due to illness.

The SIC had challenged the verdicts of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and the Peshawar High Court (PHC) in the reserved seats case.

SIC’s lawyer Faisal Siddiqui is presenting his arguments in the case. The hearing of the case will continue for the next two days, and the SC will not take up any other case today.

It is to be noted here that the ECP in its reply told the SC that the SIC is no longer entitled to the reserved seats, stating the SIC’s eligibility is compromised on several grounds.

However, a three-judge SC bench on May 6, headed by Justice Mansoor Ali Shah, suspended the verdicts of the ECP and the PHC on the SIC’s plea, and he fixed the plea for hearing.
