
A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Yahya Afridi heard the bail plea of PTI founder in eight cases linked to May 9 riots. Justice Shafi Siddiqui and Justice Hassan Azhar Rizvi were also on the bench.
Special Prosecutor Punjab Zulfiqar Naqvi took the stand that he could not appear yesterday due to illness. To which Chief Justice Yahya Afridi said that it is okay. "The court has two questions for you, you must have read the Lahore High Court decision, can a final finding be given in a bail case, the second question is that the same court granted bail to some accused on charges of conspiracy", Chief Justice said.
Chief Justice of Pakistan Yahya Afridi asked Special Prosecutor Punjab Zulfiqar Naqvi whether the principle of continuity will not apply to this case? To which the Special Prosecutor Punjab replied that the court s observation in a bail case is always of an interim nature, judicial observation does not affect the trial.

The Supreme Court granted bail to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and former Prime Minister Imran Khan in 8 cases on May 9, but despite being convicted in the Al-Qadir Trust case, he will not be able to come out of jail immediately.
