Although the government announced the partial suspension of cellular and internet services, yet the service disruptions began earlier than scheduled, causing inconvenience to the public.
It is pertinent to note that Ministry of Interior has announced that internet services will be suspended in some sensitive areas from 12 am tonight due to protests. However, users complained that internet services were disrupted before the scheduled time, affecting business, educational, and other online activities.
According to sources, this measure was taken due to potential security concerns during Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf s (PTI) protest. The abrupt internet shutdown has caused difficulties for the general public, especially those who rely on the internet for their daily activities.
The victims have demanded that the government should adopt a clear policy regarding internet shutdowns and consider the problems faced by the general public. Currently, there is no concrete information about the restoration of internet services, which has increased public anxiety.
Earlier, PTI stood firm on its stance regarding holding ‘do or die’ protest in Islamabad and other parts of the country. The government blocked the routes leading to Islamabad due to security concerns.
