Sindh Govt launches solar home systems for 275,000 families

Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon said the Sindh solar home systems initiative was launched on the instructions of Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.

He said the programme aims to provide affordable and environmentally friendly energy to households across the province.

According to the minister, the Rs18.2 billion solar project will provide solar home systems to 132,000 families living in off-grid areas where electricity is not available.

Another 143,000 families in areas connected to the national power grid will also receive the systems.

Sharjeel Inam Memon said the project reflects the government’s commitment to solving energy challenges and improving the quality of life for thousands of households throughout Sindh.

Officials said the Sindh solar home systems programme will help families reduce their dependence on conventional electricity while encouraging the use of renewable energy. The initiative is also expected to lower electricity costs for many households.

The government believes the Rs18.2 billion solar project will strengthen access to clean energy, especially for low-income communities.

Authorities added that the programme will support sustainable development and improve energy security across the province.
