Sindh govt announces solar panel scheme for middle class families
Speaking at a post-budget press conference, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah said the government has prepared the Solar Installment Plan Pakistan to support middle-income households struggling with high electricity bills.
The Sindh solar scheme is designed to help people switch to clean energy without facing extra financial pressure.
Under the plan, families can install a solar system on installments by paying a monthly amount equal to their current electricity bill.
The middle-class solar plan ensures that households can move to solar energy without increasing their monthly expenses.
The chief minister explained that if a household currently pays around Rs25,000 every month for electricity, it can install a solar system and continue paying nearly the same amount as a monthly installment.
Through the Solar Installment Plan Pakistan, consumers will gradually own their solar systems after completing payments over three to four years.
Officials said the Sindh solar scheme will provide permanent relief from rising electricity bills once the installment period ends.
They added that the solar system on installments initiative will also encourage greater use of renewable energy across the province while helping families save money in the long run.

Murad Ali Shah also announced that the government is introducing a low-cost loan facility to support the middle-class solar plan and other initiatives for middle-income families.
He added that work on the Sindh International Financial Center in Karachi will continue to strengthen economic growth.
The chief minister further said that, following the directions of President Asif Ali Zardari and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the provincial government is focusing on major development projects instead of smaller schemes.
He also confirmed that the Keti Bandar Port project is moving forward under a public-private partnership, with significant progress already made in cooperation with China.
