Punjab new initiative offers Rs15,000 monthly stipend to women
Under the initiative, selected women will receive a Rs15,000 monthly stipend along with transport allowance while completing textile sector training courses.
The programme aims to promote rural women empowerment Punjab by helping women gain professional skills and become financially independent.
The project has been introduced under the vision of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz with a budget allocation of Rs310 million.
The scheme focuses on training middle-pass women aged between 18 and 45 years from different villages of Punjab.
Through the She Threads project, women will receive modern training related to the textile industry, including industrial stitching machine operation, fabric quality inspection, apparel planning, supervision, pattern making, and cutting skills.
Officials said the Rs15,000 monthly stipend will support women during their training period and encourage more participants to join professional courses.
The government believes the programme can create better job opportunities for women and strengthen their role in the economy.

The initiative is also part of efforts for rural women empowerment Punjab, especially for women who have fewer chances to access technical education and employment.
The training courses are currently running in Lahore, Sialkot, Sheikhupura, and Faisalabad. Officials said around 2,500 women have completed training during the past two years, while 773 women have already found jobs in textile industries.
At present, 1,150 women are continuing their training, and another 1,350 women are expected to join the programme next year.
The She Threads project is being viewed as an important step toward women’s economic independence. Through skills development and financial assistance, the programme aims to connect more women with employment opportunities in Pakistan’s textile sector.
The government says the Rs15,000 monthly stipend and professional training will encourage women to build careers and contribute to household income.
