LAHORE (Web Desk): Punjab has approved the second loan instalment for 8,523 beneficiaries under the Apni Chhat Apna Ghar programme.

Second instalments approved

The Punjab government has cleared the second loan instalment for 8,523 beneficiaries of the Apni Chhat Apna Ghar programme, removing an administrative hurdle that had delayed payments.

The decision is expected to provide relief to families waiting for the next payment under the Punjab housing scheme.

According to official documents, Rs6,392,000,000 has been approved from revolving fund recoveries for the payments. The amount will not be provided as a supplementary grant.

The approval covers the second loan instalment for the selected beneficiaries of the Apni Chhat Apna Ghar scheme.

Why the payment was delayed

The issue arose because funds for second instalments had not been separately reserved when the first instalments were approved for new beneficiaries.

Earlier, Rs20 billion had been allocated to cover both instalments. However, the administrative issue created a delay in releasing the second loan instalment.

The government has now allowed a one-time special concession to resolve the matter.

Officials clarified that the approval does not create a precedent for future financial demands under the Punjab housing scheme.

No extra amount approved

The documents state that no payment will be made above the approved amount.

Future loans under the Apni Chhat Apna Ghar programme will continue to follow the Bank of Punjab framework.

Any deviation from the approved lending framework will require prior approval from the relevant authorities.

The Punjab housing scheme will therefore continue to operate according to the existing financial and administrative arrangements.

Recovery and repayment position

Official figures show that total recoveries under the programme have reached Rs13,578,000,000.

Around 125,734 beneficiaries are currently in the repayment stage, while 98.36 percent are making their payments on time.

The latest approval means 8,523 families can now receive their pending second loan instalment under the Apni Chhat Apna Ghar programme.

For beneficiaries, the release of funds could help them continue or complete construction work supported through the Punjab housing scheme.

What beneficiaries should know

The approved amount has been released through the designated financial mechanism, and beneficiaries will receive payments according to the programme’s rules.

The Apni Chhat Apna Ghar scheme remains focused on providing housing-related financial support to eligible families.

Authorities have also made it clear that the latest decision is a one-time arrangement and does not automatically guarantee similar approvals in future cases.

The second loan instalment will therefore be processed within the approved framework.
