LAHORE (Web Desk): The Punjab government has approved more than Rs60 million in scholarships for nearly 500 students from Gilgit-Baltistan under the Honhaar Scholarship Scheme.

Nearly 500 students to benefit

The Punjab Honhaar cholarships will be awarded to students from seven educational institutions in Gilgit-Baltistan.

The initiative is aimed at helping talented students continue their education without facing major financial difficulties.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif is scheduled to award the scholarships to the selected students.

The government says the programme will provide important financial support to students who are working to complete their education.

The Gilgit-Baltistan students selected for the programme will receive support through the Chief Minister’s Honhaar Scholarship Scheme. The assistance could help reduce the financial pressure faced by students and their families.

Support extended beyond Punjab

Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat described the scholarships as a gift from the provincial government to students of Gilgit-Baltistan.

He said the Honhaar Scholarship Scheme includes a quota for students from every province. This means the programme is not restricted only to students studying in Punjab.

The latest Punjab scholarships are another example of the scheme being extended to students from other parts of the country.

Officials said the initiative is intended to give talented young people a better chance to continue their studies regardless of their region.

More scholarships expected

The Punjab government has also announced that scholarships for students from Azad Jammu and Kashmir will be introduced in the coming days.

The expansion could allow more students to receive financial assistance for their education.

For many Gilgit-Baltistan students, financial problems can make it difficult to continue higher education. Scholarship support can help them manage educational expenses and focus more on their studies.

The government has allocated more than Rs60 million for the latest scholarship initiative, highlighting the scale of the programme.

Focus on educational opportunities

The Punjab scholarships are expected to provide financial relief to nearly 500 students.

The programme can also encourage students to continue their education and work towards professional careers.
