(Web Desk): The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has announced the launch of the 75 National Top Talent Scholarships Programme, offering MS and PhD opportunities for Pakistani and Azad Kashmir students in some of the world’s highest-ranked universities.

The programme has quickly gained attention as it promises access to institutions listed among the top 25 in global QS or Times Higher Education rankings.

According to the Higher Education Commission, 40 PhD and 35 MS scholarships will be awarded. These scholarships are based on confirmed or unconditional admission in selected top-tier universities, making timely acceptance a crucial factor for applicants.

Eligibility

Eligibility requirements include Pakistani or AJK nationality, confirmed admission, and a strong academic background. For MS applicants, a BS or BE or equivalent 16-year qualification is required. PhD candidates must hold MS or MPhil or equivalent 18-year education. Applicants must also maintain at least a 3.0 CGPA out of 4.0, or 3.75 out of 5.0, or a first division in the final degree. Candidates must be under 35 years of age, with a slightly higher age limit for full-time faculty members.

A first-come-first-served basis

The scholarships are to be awarded on a first-come-first-served basis. Candidates must also fulfil the host university’s requirements, which may include tests such as the international GRE, TOEFL or IELTS. Those holding conditional admission will not be considered.

Strict Warning

The HEC clarified that providing incorrect information will lead to cancellation. Selected scholars must return to Pakistan after completing their studies and serve the country for three years in the case of MS, and five years for PhD recipients.

Requirements

Applicants are required to apply through the HEC portal and submit a bank fee of Rs700 in the designated account of Habib Bank Limited. The completed application must include scanned proof of payment and all required documents before the deadline.

Last date

The last date to submit applications is March 21, 2023.

This scholarship offer opens a rare door for students aiming at top global universities. The conditions are strict, but they help ensure only serious candidates apply. The first-come rule creates urgency, so students need to act fast.
